Happy New Year, Moscow Zoo
dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the COLOUR Studio,
prize-winner of the International and All-Russian Folk Art contests and festivals

The exhibition mainly presents works of students of the COLOUR Studio between the ages of 1 and 14 years; the Studio was founded in 1980 by the artist and teacher Mark Margulis.  At present, the COLOUR Studio is part of the Educational Centre of the Moscow Zoo.

The exhibition can be divided into four parts:

First – paintings, which were made by the students of COLOUR Studio during the years of its existence;

Second – creative work using a variety of objects such as screens, folding beds, sculpture works made out of wood etc.  Such tasks were thought up by the teachers of the Studio to develop spatial imagination of the students. Screens made of the childrens’ paintings are used for stage decoration of musicals and other theatrical performances;    
    
Third – sculptural compositions using various materials (wood, wire, plastic bottles, boxes etc.);

Fourth – children`s works made during master-classes of the COLOR Studio in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, France and Egypt.

For everyone interested, the open lessons of painting will be held at the exhibition on January 5, 15, 20 and 27, from 11a.m. till 2p.m.

The exhibition "Happy New Year, the Zoo!" will be opened on December 30, 2009 at 4 p.m. and will be closed on January 31, 2010.

The exhibition will be held in the Exhibition Hall at the Main Entrance to the Zoo.

Working hours: from 11 a.m. till 4 p.m. Closed: Mondays, except January 4, 2010. Entrance free.
